Pads, tampons, toilet paper and tissues are chlorinated, and this process releases a whole host of dioxins into women’s bodies. Such toxic feminine hygiene products contribute to various conditions, including endometriosis.
MASMI is one of the companies that produce organic hygiene products. Apart from a higher price than conventional products, the pads don’t differ on the outside or in use. What we do have, however, is a guarantee that they’re non‑toxic – they’re not bleached with chlorine and are made from 100% organic cotton.

Approximate prices for pads are: 10 pcs – 14–16 PLN, liners 30 pcs – 14–16 PLN, tampons 30 pcs – 18–20 PLN.
At first glance you might think “oh, how expensive”, but when it comes to protecting our health, we should try to avoid chemicals wherever we can. Pay attention to the potential health problems that aren’t often talked about, because they’re inconvenient topics for big corporations.
Let’s remember that our health is shaped by our environment, what we put in our mouths and what our skin comes into contact with, so whenever possible, let’s approach detoxing the body holistically – from every angle. This is no exaggeration, because anything we choose to ignore can have a negative impact on our bodies.
Conventional intimate hygiene products can cause serious health problems.
Studies conducted by the American Endometriosis Association show that using chlorine-bleached pads or tampons containing dioxins and other harmful substances may influence the development of endometriosis. Most women with endometriosis do not pay attention to the fact that their symptoms significantly worsen after using pads and tampons. These products contain a semi-synthetic substance – artificial silk – instead of real cotton, in order to achieve maximum absorbency. Pads are bleached at the final stage of production. This bleaching process releases dioxins from the rayon as a by-product. Dioxins accumulate in body fat over time and their concentration gradually increases.
Dioxins are known for their ability to cause cancer, damage the reproductive system, disrupt hormones and even harm the central nervous system.
Endometriosis may be the last condition to add to the long list of health problems that dioxins can cause. It is therefore advisable for women to use pads, tampons and other hygiene products that are free from polychlorinated biphenyls. These products can be purchased in health food stores or online.
The American Endometriosis Association has conducted extensive research on the link between endometriosis and exposure to dioxins. Dioxins are a byproduct of chlorination used to bleach pads and tampons. This exposure, especially in the case of tampons, can cause endometriosis or exacerbate its symptoms. Due to the link between endometriosis and dioxins, it is best to consume chlorophyll. Chlorophyll can remove dioxins from the body, e.g., chlorella, spirulina.
Instead of disposable tampons, liners and pads, some women use reusable pads. You can also opt for reusable silicone menstrual cups.
